A full consultation is firstly performed with an advanced video examination, the camera projects a high-definition image of your ear canal onto a hand held screen. This procedure is quick, effective and painless, but can be fairly noisy. Microsuction is generally performed on children over the age of 5 years as the child is required to remain still.
In recent government announcements ear wax removal is no longer offered within many of the NHS or GP practices, so private sectors are now recommended.
In general the procedure isn’t painful at all, although it can be somewhat noisy. The skin inside the ear canal is sensitive so it’s important to stay still when asked to do so.
Many people choose to have an ear microsuction procedure on a regular basis to keep their ears cleaned, although the regularity always depends on the individual needs of the clients. Some choose to undergo microsuction every three months while others may do so once a year.
